Terms of service
The rules for using this site: who may use it, what will get access removed, how the paid parts work, and what we do and do not promise.
Effective
The agreement
Using Umengle means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service. There is nothing to cancel if you never created an account.
We update these terms when the service changes or when the law requires it. Continuing to use the service after an update means you accept the updated version; the effective date at the top tells you which version you are reading.
Who may use it
This is an adults-only service. You may use it only if you are old enough to talk to strangers on camera where you live, and only if the law that applies to you permits it. Working out whether that is the case is your responsibility, not ours.
The age rule is enforced by removal after the fact rather than by an identity check at the door. That is the honest description of how it works, and it is the reason the rule depends on you telling the truth.
If you register, log in, verify, buy something or set up a profile, the information you give must be accurate and current.
What is not allowed
The following will get access removed, and in serious cases reported to the authorities:
- Involving anyone under the required age, in any form. There is no version of this that gets a warning.
- Sexual content involving minors, threats of violence, or anything that would be a crime where either party is located.
- Harassment, hate speech, or targeting someone because of who they are.
- Recording, screenshotting or redistributing another person without their agreement.
- Sharing someone else's personal information, or pretending to be someone you are not.
- Automated access — bots, scripts, scraping, or anything that fakes a person on camera.
- Fraud, payment abuse, chargeback abuse, or using someone else's payment method.
- Attempting to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service, or to get around a restriction placed on your access.
You are responsible for what you show, say and send. Nobody else can be.
Your content
What you create stays yours. By publishing it on the platform you give us the permission we need to host, store, display and transmit it so the service can work — that permission exists for that purpose and no other.
You must have the right to publish whatever you publish. Content that breaks these terms can be removed without notice.
Free parts and paid parts
Matching and the conversation are free. You are not asked for card details in order to keep talking to the person in front of you.
The platform also has paid features. Anything that costs money says so on screen before it costs anything — never as a surprise part-way through a conversation.
On purchases:
- Purchases are final and non-refundable, except where refunds are required by law or where a specific product says otherwise.
- Fraudulent transactions, chargebacks, payment abuse or suspected unauthorised use may result in the order being cancelled, features being limited, or the account being reviewed or suspended.
- Access to purchased content or benefits may end if the account is suspended or terminated for breaking these terms.
- Prices and what a paid feature includes can change. Changes apply going forward, not to something you already bought.
Ending access
You can stop using the service at any time. If you have an account, you can close it.
We can suspend or remove access — with notice where that is reasonable, and without it where the behaviour makes notice inappropriate — if these terms are broken, if there is fraud or a risk to someone's safety, or if we are required to. The sections of these terms that are meant to survive the end of the relationship do survive it.
What we do not promise
The service is provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be available, always be uninterrupted, or always match you with someone — at a quiet hour there may be nobody online, and no amount of retrying changes that.
We do not vet the people you meet. Moderation runs around the clock and reports get acted on, but moderation reacts to behaviour; it cannot know in advance who someone is. Treat every stranger as a stranger.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the service. Some jurisdictions do not allow those limits, in which case they apply to you only as far as that jurisdiction permits.
Applicable law
You may use the platform only if you are legally permitted to do so under the laws that apply to you, and you are responsible for complying with the local rules that govern your own use.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of them still apply.

These terms are written to be read rather than to be impossible to read. Where a clause sounds narrow, it is narrow on purpose.
