Safety
Child safety
An adults-only service, and the one rule with no exceptions. Below is what that means in practice, what the site genuinely cannot enforce, how to report abuse to us and to the authorities, and what parents can do at the device.
Effective
Where we stand
Umengle is for adults. Child sexual abuse material, sexual content involving minors, grooming, and any attempt to involve someone under age in a conversation here are prohibited absolutely — there is no context, no misunderstanding and no first-offence warning that changes that.
An account or session found doing any of it is removed immediately, and cases are referred to the authorities where the law requires or permits it. We comply with lawful requests from law enforcement.
This page exists because a random video chat is exactly the kind of product where this has to be said explicitly rather than buried in a terms document.
What the site can and cannot enforce
Being straight about the limits is more useful than a stronger-sounding promise:
- What it does
- Moderation runs around the clock. Report and block stay visible during a call rather than being buried in a menu. Reports are acted on, and confirmed cases end in removal.
- What it does not do
- There is no identity check at the door. Starting a chat does not require an account, which is what makes an anonymous visit anonymous — and it also means the age rule is enforced by removal after the fact rather than verified up front. Any site in this category that claims otherwise is describing an ID system it does not have.
- What nobody can do
- Nothing stops the other person recording their own screen with tools that have nothing to do with this site. That is why the rules below are also about what you should never put on camera.
How to report it
If you believe someone on this service is a minor, or that a minor is being exploited, act on it — do not wait to be sure.
- Leave the call first. Ending it takes one tap and sends no notice to the other side.
- Use the report control that is on screen during the call. That is what reaches moderation fastest.
- Afterwards, write to [email protected] with roughly when it happened and your timezone. On an anonymous call there are no usernames, so the time is often the only way to locate the session.
Report it to the authorities as well, not only to us. Contact your local police. In the United States, the NCMEC CyberTipline takes reports at report.cybertip.org. In the United Kingdom, the IWF takes reports at iwf.org.uk. Reporting to them does not depend on us and does not wait on us.
Do not collect evidence by recording or screenshotting the other person, and do not save or forward abusive material — in many places possessing or sharing it is itself an offence, even when the intention is to report it. Tell us and the authorities when and what; that is enough.
If you are under age
This is not the site for you, and that is not a formality. Close the tab.
If an adult here has asked you for pictures, for your address or school, to move to another app, or to keep something secret from your parents — that is not normal and it is not your fault. Tell an adult you trust, and report it to the police. Nothing about that gets you in trouble.
For parents and guardians
A random video chat puts a stranger on camera with one tap and no account. It is not a service a child should have access to, and the practical controls are on the device rather than here:
- Operating-system parental controls and screen-time settings restrict which sites and apps can be opened, and can require approval for new ones.
- Browser-level content filtering and DNS filtering block whole categories of site rather than one address at a time.
- Camera permission is per-site and per-browser, and can be denied or revoked at any time in the browser settings.
If you believe your child has used this service, write to [email protected]. Say roughly when, and we will look into what can be found and removed. If you never created an account there may be no record tied to a person to find — that is the same property that protects adult users, and in this case it works against you.
Nothing on this page is aspirational. Where a control does not exist, it says so instead of implying one.
